Sustainability at Trinity

Trinity’s Sustainability Program Helps Our Planet Flourish

At Trinity School, sustainability is a part of our daily operations and activities both on and off campus. Under the guidance of the School's long-term sustainability plan, the Trinity community is committed to providing ongoing education and awareness of the role we play in promoting and supporting a sustainable world.

Trinity’s sustainability program focuses on several areas, including the following.

Climate Protection: Clean Air Campaign and Emissions Reduction
Sustainable Facilities: Procurement of Goods and Materials, Landscaping, Grounds, and Construction
Waste Reduction: Food Waste Reduction and Recycling
Water and Energy Conservation

Throughout each school year, Trinity’s Sustainability Committee—comprised of parents, teachers, administrators, and students—is focused on driving awareness and encouraging sustainable actions within these areas.

Clean Air Campaign

Trinity School participates in the Georgia Clean Air Campaign through the School’s No Idling Policy. Parents save fuel, reduce air pollution, and improve the air quality for the entire Trinity community by turning off their engines while parked in school lots or waiting for the lines to move during afternoon carpool.
Energy Conservation

Trinity is actively reducing energy consumption, including the use of or retrofitting of LED lighting during each remodel or construction project.
Facilities

At Trinity, every construction and renovation project follows our sustainability goals.
Food Waste

Trinity collaborates with chefs from Flik, the School's food service provider, to identify consumption patterns and minimize waste. Trinity students are educated on the importance of food waste reduction.
Landscape

Trinity maintains a vibrant, sustainable landscape by enhancing our campus’ ecosystem, including water conservation, the reduction of chemical use, soil protection, and stormwater management.
Recycling

Trinity School’s recycling program helps reduce the school’s solid waste stream, educates our community on waste reduction practices, and builds environmental stewardship behaviors. Each classroom and office is equipped with a blue recycle bin, and there are six recycle stations located throughout the campus.
The Trinity Garden

A beloved part of the curriculum, the Trinity Garden provides students with the opportunity to participate in true farm-to-table initiatives all year. Vegetables harvested from the garden are enjoyed by all members of the Trinity community, from the student farmers who plant the produce to the Flik chefs who incorporate them into the lunch menu.
Water Conservation

Trinity actively conserves water by utilizing energy-efficient appliances and low-flow plumbing as well as by implementing irrigation initiatives and a more sustainable heating and cooling management system.
Reuse Uniforms

Managed by our Trinity School Parents’ Association (TSPA), Trinity offers sales of recycled uniforms at a discounted cost throughout the school year. In addition to providing families the opportunity to reuse uniforms, TSPA works with outside organizations to send any unsold uniforms to children in need overseas.

EnviroTips and Sustainability Superheroes

In the classroom, Trinity students are educated on the importance of a sustainable planet and how they can make a difference every day. Students then share this information on EnviroTips, a regular segment on Trinity TV, a broadcast created by the Sixth Graders for the Trinity community. Additionally, students participate in Sustainability Superhero segments that are featured on Trinity TV.
